Traveling exhibition “The Celts in Baden-Württemberg”

Opening on 1 July 2021 at Neuenbürg Castle

The State Office for Monument Preservation (LAD) in the Stuttgart Regional Council has been concerned with the protection, care and research of archaeological remains in Baden-Württemberg for decades.

Some of the outstanding monuments of prehistory and early history date from the pre-Roman Iron Age (Hallstatt and La Tène periods), which also includes the time of the ancient Celts.

A conference on the topic "The Celts in Baden-Württemberg" took place on November 11, 2019, at the Haus der Wirtschaft in Stuttgart. A specially designed traveling exhibition on the most important aspects of Celtic culture in Baden-Württemberg was presented for the first time at the same time. Following its presentation at the LAD in Esslingen at the end of 2019, the traveling exhibition was shown at the Stuttgart Regional Council in Vaihingen and in Nagold.

It now moves on to the castle in Neuenbürg. In addition to general topics related to the Celts, the exhibition will focus on the LAD's current research on the pre-Roman Iron Age.

The exhibition opening will take place – in compliance with current Corona regulations – on Thursday, July 01, 2021, at 18 p.m. in the castle courtyard. Museum director Jacqueline Maltzahn-Redling will welcome guests, and Mr. Günther Wieland (LAD) will give an introductory address on the Celts in general and the research surrounding Neuenbürg. The exhibition will then be open for viewing. It will be on display at Neuenbürg Castle, Hintere Schlosssteige / Schloss 12, 2021 Neuenbürg, until September 1, 75305. Admission is free.
