Karlsruhe Baroque Ensemble (Early Music Concert Series)

Look forward to one Music full of contrasts, a play with light and dark, shadow and light, as dazzling as the era itself
From the rich oeuvre of the Italian master Antonio Vivaldi, the Karlsruhe Baroque Ensemble will perform the atmospheric and widely popular recorder concerto "La notte" and the violin concerto RV 294 in F major. The Concerto in E minor for transverse flute and orchestra by the French composer and flute maker Pierre-Gabriel Buffardin is also virtuosic. Two further Baroque gems by Henry Purcell, who was already considered the most important English composer during his lifetime, round out the program – two exhilarating chaconnas from King Arthur and The Fairy Queen will be performed. The Karlsruhe Baroque Ensemble is guided by historically informed performance practice and recreates the music of the Baroque era with authentic instrumentation and historical playing techniques. The musicians are Michael Fiedler (transverse flute, recorder, viola), Ulrike Bahr (recorder), Brad Johnson and Juliane Lang (violins), Nina Schwark (violin, viola), Dierk Modrow (cello), Rainer David (violone), Henner Kahlert (baroque guitar, theorbo) and Bastian Hellinger on the harpsichord.

How to reach St. George’s Church on the Schlossberg:
St. George's Church Front Castle Walkways 75305 Neuenbürg
Take the S-Bahn to the Neuenbürg (Württ.) and Neuenbürg-Süd train stations. From there, the castle is a 15-minute walk away. Through the gate of the so-called gatekeeper's house, descend the romantic Vordere Schlosssteige (caution: cobblestones) to St. George's Church in about 10 minutes.
By car, take the B 294. It's best to use the parking spaces in town, as parking at the castle is limited. From the market square, a romantic path with a view of the town (Vordere Schlosssteige) leads you directly to St. George's Church in about 10 minutes.
