“Early Music – New Concert Series #1 – St. John Passion by Heinrich Schütz” in St. George’s Church, Neuenbürg
The first concert in the "Early Music Concert Series" will take place on Good Friday, April 7, at 17:00 p.m. in cooperation with Neuenbürg Castle. The focus will be on the St. John Passion by Heinrich Schütz (1585-1672), which he wrote as a commission for Lent during his time as court Kapellmeister in Dresden. In the late Gothic church on the slope of Neuenbürg's Schlossberg, the sensual music will be performed in a special and unique way by the Neuenbürg District Choir under the direction of Sun Kim. Pastor Florian Lampadius from Loffenau will sing the evangelist text, while Makitaro Arima from Bad Herrenalb will recite Jesus. Christian D. Karl will accompany the vocal Passion music with early Baroque organ music. You are cordially invited to enjoy approximately an hour of sensual Passion music in St. George's Church. Admission is free.
