“Beware! Prejudice” (Sir Peter Ustinov)
“Beware! Prejudice” (Sir Peter Ustinov)
A brilliant concert reading with Max Herbrechter and Aida Sikira that touches, questions and makes you laugh!
Max Herbrechter , born in Dortmund in 1958, trained as an actor at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen and performed at various theaters (including the Residenztheater in Munich). He became known throughout Germany for his film and television roles, including appearances in the crime series Tatort , Bella Block , Der Kroatien-Krimi , and Anna und ihr Untermieter (2023). To date, he has appeared in over 150 film, television, and cinema productions. For several years, he has also performed his own cabaret program.
With the award-winning pianist Aida Sikira ( aidasikira.com ), he has created a masterful musical adaptation of Sir Peter Ustinov's last book, "Attention! Prejudice," a collection of stories, anecdotes, and reflections on prejudice. The selection of musical pieces is a rich mix from different eras.
Sir Peter Ustinov , born Peter Alexander Baron von Ustinov in London in 1921, was baptized in Schwäbisch Gmünd, Baden-Württemberg. He was an actor, director, peace activist, and writer. He achieved worldwide fame with his role as Emperor Nero in the epic film Quo Vadis (1951). A well-traveled cosmopolitan, articulate, witty, and charming, Ustinov, in his book published shortly before his death in 2004, decisively challenged the prejudice that he was the "villain of world history." He remained devoid of moralizing, however: "Whoever wants to judge prejudices should first examine their own."
This evening, embark on an entertaining excursion through the bizarre world of prejudice!
