FSJ position
Become part of our team!
We have from September 1, 2025 to fill a position within the voluntary service in the area of museums, cultural education and administration.
The town of Neuenbürg has operated Neuenbürg Castle since 2001, which has since also been a branch museum of the Baden State Museum in Karlsruhe. The museum's centerpiece is the multimedia fairytale production "The Cold Heart" and the accompanying permanent exhibition, which explores regional history from the time of the Celts to recent times. The castle team's responsibilities also include the conception, planning, and implementation of cultural events such as exhibitions, concerts, readings, children's theater, guided tours, castle adventure days, and more.
The entire complex of Neuenbürg Castle includes the Renaissance castle, a castle ruin, the castle garden and St. George's Church with medieval wall paintings.
What's waiting for you
You'll experience the interesting and varied work of running the castle. We'll introduce you step by step to various areas of responsibility. These include event planning, event management, exhibitions (active participation in planning and setup), social media, visitor services, supporting the team with office and administrative tasks, and light technical assistance. You'll also have the opportunity to develop your own project for the visitor program and the range of events for adults, young people, and/or children.
A voluntary social year at Neuenbürg Castle will deepen your communication and social skills and offer you the opportunity to recognize and further develop your strengths.
We are looking for an interested, open-minded, team-oriented and independent person who is willing to work in the castle and museum with commitment and a little manual skill.
You also have a class B driving license and are experienced in using social media.

Duration: 12 months
Hours per week: 31-39 hours
