UR WELT FORM Objects and Paintings – Ulrike Donié
Alien-looking, organic forms occupy the rooms in gigantic dimensions. It seems as if these beings have emerged from the universe of dynamic webs of lines, swirling bands of color, and bulbous structures that dominate the walls.
Do we perceive them as threatening? Do they trigger primal fears in us? Do they reflect the origins of the world? The diversity and abundance of these forms always surprise us and stimulate our curiosity!
Ulrike Donié, born in Saarbrücken in 1961, plays with our perceptions. Her works oscillate between abstraction and representationalism, opening our eyes to alien worlds, to primeval worlds, possibly to mysterious underwater realms populated by recognizable structures and forms. Although the essential forms deeply disturb and unsettle us, they nevertheless radiate order and calm, an impression that is further reinforced in the dialogue between the objects and the paintings.
