Special exhibition Hans Ludwig Pfeiffer

Sun., 30 March to Sun., 15 June

March 30th marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of the painter and sculptor Hans Ludwig Pfeiffer. Born in Rome, raised on Lake Ammersee and in Königsberg, he moved to Berlin to study sculpture under Wilhelm Gerstel. Here and in East Prussia, he worked for 20 years as a painter, stage designer, and caricaturist. In 1946, Pfeiffer founded an art academy with Paul Kälberer in the former Bernstein Monastery near Haigerloch. Renowned artists studied and taught there. After the school was closed, Pfeiffer moved to Neuenbürg in 1953. Unfazed by fashionable trends, the astute and critical observer created a highly impressive late body of work in the palace. His "Theatrum Mundi," an evolutionary drama, centers on humanity as the measure of all things. The exhibition provides an overview of Pfeiffer's artistic development and also shows previously unknown works from private collections (Horse Stable and Game Kitchen, admission: €2,00 / €1,00).

Opening: Sun, March 30, 11 a.m.
